Dilly Ala, MRSC, and her helm Sophie Dennis have just taken part in the RS Feva Nationals in Torbay. They were lucky to miss the various storms but had very variable conditions on the first 2 days of qualifying. However they qualified in to the Gold fleet as 1st girls.
After some very competitive racing over the next 2 days again in very shifty variable conditions the wind going from 7knts to 20 knts they finally finished 19th overall in a fleet of 111 boats and were 3rd placed girls. The highlight was coming 3rd in the 2nd to last race having held 2nd place until the very last leg.
Congratulations to Dilly and Sophie – this is an amazing achievement given last year the girls finished 75th overall and only qualified into Silver fleet. A winter season in the National squad has worked wonders.
They had great fun with lots chat and banter on the water and Dilly cannot recommend enough just having ago at a Feva event if you have the chance.
