Programme

Click here for Draft programme 2019 to download a copy of the Sailing Club Calendar for this season.

As a members club run by members for the enjoyment of members, we all rely on each of us undertaking duties both on the water and in the club house. In the programme you will see the allocation of duties for this year. If you are unable to do your allocated duty please make sure you swap with another member. You can do this via the Dutyman link to be found in the Members Section on the Club Information page.

When arranging a swap for a Race duty, it is important that the swap is between equally qualified individuals “like for like” between PRO, RIB Driver, crew or Patrol Boat.

SAILING DUTIES:

The PRO should arrive ½ hr earlier than the times stated below

For a Club start: please arrive at the club and report to the PRO 1 hour before race start time

For a Harbour start: please arrive at the club and report to the PRO 1½ hours before race start time

For a Bay start: please arrive at the club and report to the PRO 2 hours before race start time

BAR DUTIES

The Club Bar opening times and duty allocation can be found in the Programme.   Detailed instructions for opening and closing the Bar are available when picking up keys.  If you wish to read them beforehand please email the bar manager.

Duty Times:

Sunday/Bank Holidays ( All Year):  12.30-15.00

Sundowner Wednesday & Friday (May-September):     18.00- 20.30

Evening Wednesday & Friday (All Year): 20.30-23.00

Saturday (Lunch/after racing):  See Programme

Saturday (Club social event):  19.30-23.00

By popular demand, we are opening the bar on early summer Wednesday and Friday Evenings from 18.00 until 20.30 when the normal opening will continue.  This additional opening will be manned by volunteers.

CLUB WORK PARTIES

To help keep up the club grounds, there are two dates – one Saturday towards the end of the season and one at the start of the next season where projects and seasonal jobs are planned and completed from 0930-1300. On page 40 of the Programme (or by visiting the dutyman rota) there is a list of people allocated to each of these days, but please do come and get involved if you can – “many hands make light work” and refreshments will be provided.

MONDAY MORNING WRINKLIES

Got a couple of hours to spare on a Monday morning, come down to the club and enjoy the great company of the Monday Morning Wrinklies.

    Calling all Juniors…

After coming so close last year with George missing out on the Finals by tenths of a second, Paul Taylor and the RIB section are starting practise sessions for all Juniors interested in learning to drive a RIB. There are two age categories, 8-12 and 13-16 and each session is designed to teach juniors to drive a timed course around a set of marks – the fastest time wins. The slalom buoys are set 12.5m apart so that skill and control, and not just speed, are the most important factors.
